EXCURSION EXPECTATIONS
AND POLICIES

Welcome everyone. Below we will go over all requirements for guided llama excursions. We will go into a Gear list, also give you an idea of food that will be offered while in the backcountry, required forms, deposit amounts to book your excursion, cancellations, fishing licenses, possible areas to stay.  Wasatch Front llamas is a licensed and insured business, where we offer a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the back country like never before with llamas.

Lets get into the gritty

Gear list

What is provided.

Wasatch Front Llamas will provide you with a professionally trained guide. He or she will be CPR first aid certified and certified wilderness first responders. Wasatch Front Llamas will provide you with a tent, sleeping pad, and a 0 degree rated mummy sleeping bag. (Bags will be professionally cleaned after each use) If you would like to bring your own pad and light-weight sleeping bag that is perfectly ok. Please specify this via email. Each customer will have the opportunity to care for there llamas needs, such as leading, watering, picketing, brushing & saddling. We will have plenty of food to satisfy your energy needs to enjoy our excursions. Standard first aid kit, small collapsible bucket with small wash clothe and homemade soap.

Recommended gear to bring.

  • 2 Hiking shorts or pants

  • 2 Short sleeved shirt

  • Long pants (fleece is warmer than cotton in cool conditions)

  • 2 Long-sleeved shirt

  • Comfortable hiking boots (well broken in)

  • Camp shoes

  • plenty of socks (preferably wool)

  • Wool sweater

  • Sun hat or ball cap

  • Wool cap

  • Gloves (wool, polypropylene)

  • Quality rain jacket and pants

  • Warm vest or jacket

  • Down style coat

  • Polypropylene long underwear

  • Tevas, crocs or waterproof shoes for river crossings

  • Swimsuit (if you dare to brave the cold water)

  • Warm lightweight sleeping bag in stuff sack (If you bring your own sleeping bag)

  • Sleeping pad

  • Small towel and toiletries (we follow and believe in LNT) 

  • Small flashlight or headlamp (extra batteries)

  • Sunscreen

  • Mosquito repellent (100% Deet & head net)

  • Lip Balm with high SPF

  • Sunglasses

  • Good quality wide mouth water bottle

  • Day pack (for water bottle, rain gear, camera, binoculars, sunscreen, toiletries or anything else you might wish to have access to while we are on trail hiking).

Customers will be limited to 25 pounds of gear which will be packed into a 12" x 24" stuff sack, Please have your gear packed and ready by the morning of departure, this will be carried by the llamas. If your gear weight is over this amount you will carry the additional gear, but with past experiences you probably have too much gear, and won't need it.  

Food

Our food options will be unlike any backpack trip you have experienced. HOW YOU ASK? With being accompanied by llamas we can offer fresh meats like elk, beef, pork, chicken, and fish that we'll catch from the lakes. Also fresh fruits and vegetables.

 

Breakfast 

We will be enjoying fresh fruits, dried fruits, assorted nuts, accompanied with steel cut oats, sour dough pancakes, oatmeal, hash browns with eggs and bacon, biscuits and gravy (sausage or bacon style), breakfast burritos, breakfast bagels. Coffee, Tea and hot chocolate bar will also be available each morning.

Lunch

Almost every lunch will be pre-prepared before departure from campsite or before leaving to explore surrounding  lakes and peaks. Lunches will include snacks, deli style sandwiches or jelly sandwiches, wraps, personal salads and cookies. This way they can be enjoyed on the go.

Dinner

Dinners will have a wide variety from American cowboy dinners, Italian style dinner to Indian cuisine. We can offer elk steaks with country gravy, elk stews, lasagna with garlic bread and green salad, fresh caught fish with rice and veggies, chicken coconut curry served with rice and veggies and many different styles of fresh hot desserts.

DEPOSIT/FINAL PAYMENT/CANCELLATIONS/REQUIRED 

A $500 deposit per person and signed copies of the assumption of risk form, llama indemnity agreement and a medical form will hold your party's reservation. Your reservation will not be locked in until your deposit and forms listed above are received (deposit is non-refundable). All balances are due 30 days prior to trip departure date. Also, the customer will need to sign and mail copies of the assumption of risk form, llama indemnity agreement, and a medical form.  Non- payment of balance will be considered a cancellation and the deposit forfeited. Any cancellation 60 days or more prior to departure will receive a full refund, except your deposit. After 60 days, or less, to your departure no refund will be returned. On all refunds, via credit card, there be a 5% fee.

Wasatch Front Llamas payment options are as follows: CASH (5% discount), check, Venmo (2% fee), PayPal and credit card (4% fee). The customer cannot charge back the $500 deposit via credit card or Venmo. If you paid via credit card and the remaining amount has not been paid in full before or at 30 days from your departure, Wasatch Front Llamas will run the remaining amount to your credit card. All trips are subject to itinerary changes based on many circumstances, including, but not limited to, permit availability, snowpack, river crossings, wildlife, public land closures, and forest fires. The price and duration of a hiking trip will never change once you are registered. Payments are not refundable for itinerary changes. If a trip is cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control a trip of equal value will be issued or offer.

Wasatch Front Llamas has a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use or possession of illicit drugs, which are defined as any unlawful substance not prescribed to you by a medical professional. The use or possession of illicit drugs will lead to a guests’ immediate disqualification and or removal from a excursion.

​

Wasatch Front Llamas requires a minimum of 4 people to commence a guided excursion, although less than 4 people may start a new trip. We reserve the right to mix groups, and strive to keep a maximum of 10 people per trip. Individuals & groups with less than 4 people may also join any scheduled trips that have openings. If your excursion does not acquire the minimum amount of persons your excursion will be cancelled and we will refund total excursion costs. Wasatch Front Llamas is not responsible for additional expenses incurred by preparing for the trip (for example: non-refundable advance purchase airline tickets, clothing, equipment, visa fees, medical expenses, travel expenses etc.).

Fishing rule and regulations

Wasatch Front Llamas will provide fishing equipment but you are more than welcome to bring yours as well.

Travel/Places to stay

​

The High Uintas Wilderness is nestled just over an hour east of Salt Lake City Utah, if you plan to fly here the Salt Lake international airport is a great place to fly into. From the airport there are many shuttle options that can get you to the historical town of Park City Utah. This town was originally a mining town but now has turned into a great destination for travelers, with many options for lodging and an amazing assortment of outstanding restaurants. This town will have almost everything you'll need.

Plan for pre-trip and post trip accommodations.

Trips will depart early in the mornings. We should be returning to the trail heads in the afternoons.
